Which Colors Are in More Than One Series?
- Cedartone, Redwood and Clear come in all three series (101/1501/201, 102/1502/202, and 100/1500/200).
- Dark Oak, Honeytone, Rustic and Pecan come in both TWP 100 and TWP 1500.
- Gray tones: Cape Cod Gray and Prairie Gray are TWP 100 colors, and Slate Gray is a TWP 200 color.
Note that matching color names in different series are different formulas, so the same name can look a little different from one series to the next.
Tips for Choosing a TWP Color
- Start with the series. If TWP 100 can't be sold in your state, pick from the TWP 1500 or TWP 200 colors.
- Clear doesn't hold color. TWP notes that 1500 Clear "is not intended for color retention and will allow the wood to gray naturally." Choose a tinted color if you want to keep the wood's color.
- Plan to recoat. TWP says colors may lighten substantially over time, which is the sign it's time to reapply.
- Test first. Wood species, age and prep all change the final look, so try your color on a small, hidden area before doing the whole deck.
