Why Use TWP 200 on Cedar Shakes and Shingles?
- Made for shakes and shingles: TWP says the formula helps reduce grain cracking, cupping, surface erosion and water absorption on aged roofing and siding.
- Restores weathered wood: it soaks into dry, porous wood and adds bulk and flexibility to brittle shingles.
- Resists growth: the stained surface resists mold, mildew, algae and moss.
- Low VOC: under 100 g/L, the lowest-VOC TWP, legal in every state.
- Easy upkeep: it penetrates instead of forming a film, so it won't peel, and you can add a color maintenance coat when needed.
TWP 200 Colors
Choose from 200 Clear, 201 Cedartone, 202 Redwood, 203 Gold, 205 California Cedar, 206 Russet Brown, 207 Butternut and 210 Slate Gray. TWP says the colors can be mixed together, and 200 Clear can be added to lighten a color. Wood porosity changes the final look, so test a small area first. How to Apply TWP 200
- Prep: let new wood weather 4-12 months. Clean new or gray wood with Restore-A-Deck or a bleach-and-water solution, rinse, and let it dry at least 48 hours. Any other finish must be removed first.
- Mix, don't thin: stir well before and during use.
- Apply one coat with a brush, pad, roller, pump sprayer or airless sprayer until the wood is saturated, and back brush for even color. Work 2-3 boards or shingle courses at a time to avoid lap marks.
- Wipe off the excess: remove any stain that hasn't soaked in after 30-60 minutes. Extra stain left on the surface stays shiny, dries slowly and can fail early.
TWP 200 vs TWP 100 and 1500
