Sikkens ProLuxe Cetol DEK, now sold as PPG ProLuxe Premium Deck Wood Finish, is a transparent satin deck stain and finish. Why Choose Sikkens Cetol DEK for Your Deck?

  • Satin, hardwood-floor look: two coats build a transparent satin finish with more sheen and depth than a penetrating deck stain.
  • Clear, rich color: transparent oxide pigments add color while the grain shows through.
  • UV and water protection: UV absorbers protect the color and the wood, and the finish repels water.
  • Flexible film: PPG's resin technology is made to resist cracking and peeling as the wood moves.
  • Made for living on: the finish resists mildew and marring from deck furniture.

Sikkens Deck Stain Colors

Cetol DEK comes in four wood tones: 078 Natural, a light honey tone; 077 Cedar; 005 Natural Oak, a mid brown; and 045 Mahogany, a deep red-brown. These are the same color numbers used across the Sikkens line, so a DEK deck can match a house finished in Cetol SRD, Log & Siding or Cetol 1/23 in the same color. Color depends on the wood species and its age, so test a small area first. See every color in our Sikkens ProLuxe color chart.

How to Apply Sikkens DEK Finish

  1. Prep: the deck must be clean, dry and free of mildew, dirt and failing finish. Use a deck cleaner and brightener and let the wood dry fully.
  2. Check the weather: apply when the air and wood are 50-90°F and the surface is at least 5°F above the dew point. Don't apply in direct sun or late in the day when dew may form, and allow 48 hours without rain or temperatures below 40°F.
  3. First coat: stir well and apply an even coat, following the directions on the can.
  4. Second coat: apply after 24 hours. Keep heavy furniture and foot traffic off until the finish has cured.

How Much Cetol DEK Do I Need?

Each gallon covers about 350-450 sq ft per coat on smooth decking and hardwoods. For two coats, a 300 sq ft deck needs about 2 gallons, and a 500 sq ft deck needs 3 gallons or a 5 gallon pail. Rough or weathered wood takes more. Use our deck stain coverage guide to estimate yours.
