Looking for a Replacement for Rymar Extreme Weather or Rymar Premium?
Rymar's sealers were oil-based, semi-transparent penetrating finishes for cedar, redwood and pressure-treated pine. These oil-based semi-transparent stains give a similar look and protection:
- TWP Stain: oil-based penetrating stain with wood preservatives for decks, fences and siding. Try the TWP 100 Series, or the lower-VOC TWP 1500 Series for VOC-regulated states.
- Sikkens ProLuxe: Cetol SRD / SRD RE for decks and siding, and Cetol Log & Siding for log homes.
- Penofin: penetrating oil finishes such as Penofin Red Label for cedar, redwood and hardwoods.
- Ready Seal: an easy-to-apply oil-based stain and sealer for decks and fences.
- Vermont Natural Coatings: a low-VOC, water-based penetrating stain if you'd like lower odor and soap-and-water cleanup.
Switching From Rymar
When changing brands, clean the wood and remove any failing finish first. A deck cleaner, stripper and brightener will prepare the surface so your new stain soaks in evenly. Always test a small area to check the color on your wood.
