Cabot Australian Timber Oil Colors: Choosing the Right Shade
Cabot Australian Timber Oil is a penetrating, oil-modified finish known for giving decks, siding, railings and outdoor furniture a warm, rich look. Picking the right color is the most important decision, so here is a quick guide to the shades we carry.
The Colors
- Natural: the lightest option, adding a soft golden warmth while letting the wood's own color show through.
- Honey Teak: a golden, honey-toned shade popular on cedar and new pressure-treated wood.
- Amberwood: a warm amber-brown that brightens weathered wood and works on most species.
- Mahogany Flame: a rich reddish-brown for a classic, warm hardwood look.
- Jarrah Brown: the deepest tone, a dark, rich brown that helps hide imperfections in older wood.
Because Australian Timber Oil is translucent, the final color always depends on your wood. Cedar, redwood, pressure-treated pine and exotic hardwoods will each look a little different, and darker shades show more color on rough or weathered boards. Test a small area first.
Standard vs. VOC Formula
The standard formula can't be shipped to some VOC-regulated states. For those areas, choose Cabot Australian Timber Oil VOC, which is VOC compliant in all 50 states and available in Natural and Jarrah Brown (with Mahogany Flame also offered in the 5 gallon pail).
Sizes
We stock Australian Timber Oil in 1 gallon cans and 5 gallon pails. For larger decks and siding jobs, a pail keeps the color consistent from start to finish.
