Sashco Transformation Log & Timber Stain, 2 Gallon Pack
This pack is two 1 gallon cans of Sashco Transformation Log & Timber in the same color. Transformation is an oil-based, semi-transparent log stain with a gloss finish and no clear top coat. Two gallons is a good size for a small cabin, a garage or shed, porch posts and beams, or a maintenance coat on part of a log home. For a whole house, see the 5 gallon pail.
What 2 Gallons of Transformation Stain Covers
| Coat | Coverage per gallon | This 2 gallon pack |
|---|---|---|
| First coat on bare or restored logs | 150-250 sq ft | About 300-500 sq ft |
| Second coat or maintenance coat | 300-500 sq ft | About 600-1,000 sq ft |
A new two-coat job uses roughly 1.5 times as much stain as the first coat alone, so this pack does about 200-330 sq ft of wall from start to finish. Rough, dry or weathered logs land at the low end. Sashco recommends boxing (mixing together) all your cans before you start so the color is even across the wall.

Choose from 11 colors: Gold Tone Light, Medium and Dark; Red Tone Light, Medium and Dark; Brown Tone Light, Medium and Dark; Natural; and Redwood. Both cans in the pack come in the color you pick. Wood species and age change how a color looks, so try it on a hidden spot first.
Transformation or Capture?
Transformation is oil-based and needs no top coat, which makes it the usual pick for restoring weathered logs. Sashco Capture is water-based and is finished with Cascade clear coat. Our 1 gallon Transformation page has a side-by-side comparison and step-by-step application directions.
